The Tote
The money taken is split between the fund-raiser and the winners. An example of the money raised from the tote is as follows; IN RACE ONE A total of £52.00 If in the above example the £52.00 from the first
race is split 50/50 then the fund-raiser would make £26.00 and the
winning ticket holders would share £26.00. ...This is just the first of eight races for starters. Tickets may be sold at whatever price you decide (£1 being the
norm) being split between fund-raiser with the winning ticket holders
again between 10% and 50% - you decide. TRI-CAST This usually based on race six. You will be given an A3 card listing every possible combination of 1st 2nd and 3rd places. Each of the 336 combinations is sold prior to the event at £1.00 per time, raising an additional £336.00. This will give you £186.00 towards your fund-raising with a jackpot of £150.00 being paid to the winner. DUAL FORECAST An alternative to the Tri-cast Card, more suitable for smaller gatherings.
The Dual Forecast card lists every combination of 1st and 2nd places in
any chosen race. Each of the 56 combinations can be sold for £1.00
per time, raising an additional £56.00. THE AUCTION Always carried out on the last race. This is where the compere auctions off all the horses to the highest bidders. The proceeds are split between winners and fund-raisers. Often adding a surprising amount to the monies already raised. PLEASE NOTE: IT IS THE NORM TO BET IN £1 UNITS |
